2007 – The first episode of ‘Gavin & Stacey’, a romantic situation comedy. Filmed mainly in South Wales, locations included Boofy’s Chip Shop and Island Leisure Amusement Arcade, both at Western Shelter on Barry Island. It ran for a total of 20 episodes.

2009 – Health minister Phil Hope agreed to repay £41,709 in second home allowances following further media revelations about MPs expenses.

2012 – Donald “Duck” Dunn, bassist with Booker T and the MG’s dies in his sleep after playing a show at the Blue Note night club in Tokyo. On the same day, Manchester City beats QPR 3-2 at the City of Manchester Stadium with an injury time Sergio Aguero goal to win the Premier League title on goal difference from Manchester United.

2013 – Former cabinet minister Chris Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce were released from prison and electronically tagged, having served a quarter of their eight month jail sentences for perverting the course of justice. The ex-energy secretary had asked Pryce to take his speeding points after his BMW car was caught by a speed camera on the M11 between Stansted Airport and London in March 2003.

2018 – Manchester City ends the Premier League season with a 1-0 win at Southampton having smashed 11 Premier League records including biggest title winning margin (19 points) and most points (100). On the same day, Tommy Charlton, younger brother of Bobby and Jackie, makes his debut at the age of 72 for the England Over 60’s side in the first ever Walking Football international against Italy at the Amex Stadium, Brighton
